α-Lipoic acid (Thioctic acid) is not contained only trace amounts in food. However, this is an important coenzyme for energy generation and for working of other enzyme. In recent years, α-lipoic acid is containing as typical ingredient for anti-aging in many supplements and cosmetics.

In this technical note, we introduce a HPLC method to measure α-lipoic acid with UV detector and reversed phase column.
