Support to Natural Protection Activity

WWF Japan and GL Sciences

Our first president, Kenji Mori, was deeply impressed by the fact that the nature and environmental conservation activities promoted by WWF Japan (World Wildlife Fund Japan) are used for the analysis of natural and environmental issues and are closely related to the manufacturing and sales of our products with the aim of contributing to the reduction of environmental impact. In November 1999, we donated 200,000 shares of our own stock (400,000 shares after the split) to WWF Japan in order to put into practice one of the three pillars of our basic philosophy, namely, to "fully demonstrate society and enhance its existence value." In 2006, we became a corporate member of WWF Japan, and since then we have been supporting the activities of WWF Japan.

Mr. Sadayoshi Tobai, WWF Japan Chairperson’s message

The shares of GL Sciences donated by the first president, Kenji Mori, are included in the basic assets of the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation. By holding the property for a long period of time for the public interest, we utilize the investment profit (dividend) as a financial resource for charity.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the long-term dividend of more than 20 years since the donation of shares in 1999, and for the great support of WWF's environmental conservation activities.

WWF Activity Overview

WWF is an international environmental NGO that is engaged in environmental conservation activities with the mission of realizing a society in which people and nature coexist. In Japan, it has been active since 1971 as the World Wildlife Fund Japan.

WWF believes that the world is facing two major crises in 2021. One is the crisis in which biodiversity has been lost by -68% in the last 50 years. This crisis is also a crisis that jeopardizes the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) that the world is aiming to achieve together toward 2030.
Environmental pollution is one of the major causes of the decrease in biodiversity. Global biodiversity recovery cannot be achieved without reducing the burden of environmental pollution that threatens the health of living things and even humans.
Another crisis is the crisis of global warming, that is, the climate crisis. Not only the temperature has risen, but the weather has changed drastically, and natural disasters have already begun to intensify like never before.
In response to these two major crises, WWF aims to create a sustainable society that protects and restores biodiversity and makes an early transition to a carbon-free society through collaboration with companies.

GL Sciences' business in the environment-related field is a business that quickly and accurately grasps environmental issues and leads to accurate evaluation of the progress and results of environmental conservation. We would like to continue working with GL Sciences to realize a sustainable society while having the opportunity to have a dialogue.

Join to EARTH HOUR

“Earth Hour” has started as a campaign of global warming protection in Sidney since March, 2007. Now, the Earth Hour has been taken over by WWF network and become a worldwide campaign.

In “Earth Hour”, many organizations, facilities and individual joined person turn off their lights for one hour: from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In turn, the lights are turned off from the east to the earth depending on the time difference.
GL Sciences support this campaign as a member of WWF Japan.
