Among diabetes mellitus, type II diabetes is caused by insulin resistance. Pioglitazone hydrochloride, which is a member of the class thiazolidinedione, is often used for treating type II diabetes because it reduces insulin resistance in liver and improves hyperglycemia.
In this note, chromatograms of pioglitazone based on the eluent condition described in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) are shown. Using Inertsil ODS-4, sharp peak was obtained from tablet samples as well as standard solution.
